File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council is one of five Tribal Council’s in Saskatchewan that participate in Active Measures through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Canada and the Province of Saskatchewan.
Active Measures refers to proactive interventions designed to:
- Increase labour force attachment and employment outcomes for First Nations;
- Decrease the Income Assistance dependency rate for on-reserve First Nations, particularly youth; and
- Create incentives for individuals to pursue training while removing incentives to remain on Income Assistance.
Active Measures works in cooperation with Income Assistance Administrators, Job Coaches/Employment Coordinators and FHQ Tribal Council staff to provide employment and training opportunities to young clients on social assistance with the goal of having these young clients obtain and maintain employment.
