Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services Inc. (RT/SIS) is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services to the First Nations population in the City of Regina. RT/SIS is an affiliate organization of the Touchwood Agency and the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council that serves 15 First Nations in Southern Saskatchewan and within the Treaty Four Territory. The RT/ SIS Inc. Houselessness Initiative Programs are designed to assist houseless clients with transition support services as well as rehabilitation and reintegration into the community. This operation is a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week congregate setting facility. These positions will have day, evening and overnight shifts.
Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Security Guard is responsible for protecting residents, staff and assigned property from any criminal activity. Surveillance duties include patrolling the facility and grounds regularly including verifying all doors, windows and gates are secure on the property. Security will also operate security equipment, review cameras and monitor residents as required. They will enforce regulations of the facility, maintain order and respond to any alerts of suspicious activity. They will deescalate situations when required. Applicants must be at least 19 years old and in good physical condition, should be able to stand for extended periods of time, and display good decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution and communication skills. In addition, this position will report on security concerns to the team through ongoing documentation including logbooks and report writing.
Qualifications for applicants include:
- Security guard training certification /SK Security Guard License;
- High school diploma or equivalent is required;
- Valid Class 5 SK Driver’s license;
- CSA approved steel toe work boots;
- Reliable transportation to and from work;
- Ability to be a positive role model;
- Willingness to learn and work with at risk clients;
- Familiar with methods of supervision of adults in an institutional setting;
- Certification in Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, First Aid/CPR;
- Crisis Intervention techniques;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience with computer software;
- Report writing experience;
- Must adhere to RT/ SIS Inc. Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines;
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training when time and funding permits.
- Must be able to pass security screening and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to work shift hours – evenings, weekends, overnight
- Knowledge of First Nations values, culture, traditions, and governance.
