The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council (FHQTC) is a dynamic and progressive organization that provides a range of programs and health services which serve eleven First Nations throughout Southern Saskatchewan within the Treaty Four Territory. The position is with FHQTC Health Services, based at All Nations Healing Hospital, located in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK.
Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Community Services, this position will work within the Diabetes and Wellness team. The team provide diabetes and nutrition services and counseling, and works collaboratively with FHQTC Nations to plan, implement and evaluate nutrition and diabetes services. The team provides services to 10 Nations of the FHQTC as well as several entities, support to acute care for clinical nutrition and diabetes, chronic disease and hemodialysis support as well as food security and nutrition education. The Dietitian will work to full scope of practice. Support is provided for continuing education and further certifications. All work centers on respect for cultures and traditions, and is within a culturally responsive, client directed model of care.
- Provision of diabetes, nutrition and chronic disease programming, counseling, education, and community services.
- Promotion of food security and food sovereignty education, programs, and partnerships.
- Consult in areas of expertise, develop resources and education sessions as requested.
- Clinical nutrition and diabetes support in acute care setting, dialysis and in community settings.
- Advocacy for health access and equality for clients.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and within communities.
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and an approved dietetic internship, or equivalent
- In good standing or eligible for registration in the Saskatchewan College of Dietitians
- Experience working in Clinical and Community Nutrition an asset
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) Certification an asset – support for obtaining possible within role
- Knowledge, understanding and cultural humility working with First Nations
- Must possess a valid drivers license
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (7.5 hrs./day).
Flexibility may be required based on operational requirements, option for compressed work week after probationary period.
Rate of Pay/Benefits:
$66,652 to $81,519
