Education

The education initiatives of the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council (FHQTC) reflect a commitment to preserving and revitalizing First Nations cultures while providing high-quality, holistic education opportunities for youth in the 11 member First Nation communities.

Grounded in traditional knowledge systems and values such as interconnectedness, reciprocity, and respect for the land, FHQTC integrates language, culture, and spirituality into its curriculum. Through language revitalization programs, cultural teachings, and engagement with Elders and Life Speakers, the council fosters a sense of pride, belonging, and cultural identity among students while equipping them to thrive in the modern world.

FHQ Education’s holistic and culturally responsive approach supports academic achievement, retention, and access to post-secondary opportunities, ensuring students are prepared for success in the 21st century. Guided by the advocacy of the Education Chief Committees, the council’s initiatives empower future generations with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead fulfilling lives rooted in their cultural heritage and values. Through education, FHQTC is building a brighter future for First Nations youth and their communities.
