POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Peepeekisis Cree Nation Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Child and Family Services is responsible for overseeing the management, administration, and delivery of all programs to ensure the needs of nation members are met effectively and responsibly. This leadership role involves overall planning, directing, and monitoring of program services and financial operations.

 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Financial Management: Lead all administrative and financial operations in accordance with nation finance policy, including the submission of annual budgets and quarterly reviews.
  • Personnel Management: Supervise personnel through recruitment, hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development.
  • Program & Service Delivery: Oversee day-to-day operations of Prevention, First Nations Representative, and Capacity Building services while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation like the Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit, Metis Youth and Families.
  • Organizational Development: Lead the development of independent legislation laws under Bill C-92 and manage relationships between the Ministry and the Peepeekisis Cree Nation.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s strategic plan and report progress to the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief and Council
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Business Administration, Commerce, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.

    Leadership: Strong team-building and leadership skills with a comprehensive understanding of social and cultural issues within a First Nation community.

    Legal & Negotiating: Strong negotiation abilities and knowledge of federal and provincial initiatives related to First Nation Agencies.

    Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel. Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
