Financial Officer – Pasqua First Nation

Term: Full-time

The Finance Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure the organization remains in compliance with all accounting and financial reporting requirements for federal and private funding. Reporting to the P.F.N. Director of Finance, the successful candidate will work with Leadership to develop and implement internal fiscal policies to increase organizational effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Planning: Conduct cash flow planning, ensure fund availability, and manage accounting for multiple investment funds including monthly reconciliations.
  • Operational Accounting: Prepare deposits, analyze invoices/purchase orders, and resolve outstanding A/R and A/P issues.
  • Systems Management: Maintain computerized accounting systems such as Sage-Accpac and Microsoft Excel.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements in conformity with GAAP and process quarterly federal funder financial reports.
  • Payroll & Budgeting: Process semi-monthly payroll and assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets and grant application budget
  • Audit & Compliance: Act as the primary contact for external auditors and ensure day-to-day compliance with established internal controls.
  • Supervision: Supervise the Finance Assistant and provide primary backup for their functions
