The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council (FHQTC), on behalf of Ocean Man First Nation, Grades invites applications for a passionate and committed school Principal at the Ocean Man Education Centre.
This full-time term position will begin August 17, 2026, offering the chance to help shape a culturally relevant, land-based, and student-focused learning environment in a supportive and inspiring setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the school.
- Establish and communicate a clear vision and goals focused on student success.
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate teachers and support staff.
- Promote high-quality teaching, learning, and student achievement.
- Lead school improvement planning and monitor progress toward goals.
- Develop and implement school policies, procedures, and operational plans.
- Manage the school budget and ensure responsible use of resources.
- Oversee student attendance, discipline, and well-being.
- Ensure compliance with educational legislation, policies, and regulations in accordance with Ocean Man Nakoda Nation.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, community members, and leadership.
- Support Indigenous education, cultural responsiveness, and community engagement.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
- Analyze student achievement and school data to inform decision-making.
- Ensure effective communication between the school, families, governing bodies, and community partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Education would be preferred, or combination of 5 years’ relative work experience and Bachelor of Education would be considered.
- Registered and in good standing with the Saskatchewan Professional Regulatory Board.
- Criminal Record check with a vulnerable sector search
- Valid Drivers license
- Knowledge of Nakoda language and culture is an asset
