Transition Support Workers – Overnight, Evening, Weekend

 Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services Inc. (RT/SIS) is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services to the First Nations population in the City of Regina. RT/SIS is an affiliate organization of the Touchwood Agency and the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council that serves 15 First Nations in Southern Saskatchewan and within the Treaty Four Territory. The RT/ SIS Inc. Houselessness Initiative Programs are designed to assist houseless clients with transition support services as well as rehabilitation and reintegration into the community. 

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, the Transition Support Worker is the primary contact with clients and are responsible for daily activities of the program as well as facilitation and implementation of programming. The Support Worker will provide mentorship and support to clients as they transition from supportive housing to independent housing. The Support Worker will develop an individualized case plan based on the assessment needs for the client that is consistent with the overall case management. The Support Worker will also assist clients in gaining insight into their problems, finding workable solutions to those problems and improving their decision-making skills. They will also be proactive and creative in outreach efforts to engage and maintain client involvement. In addition, this position will report on client progress to the team through ongoing documentation, communication and 

Qualifications for applicants include:

 

➢Degree/Diploma in the human services field and/or related education and years of experience in at risk client care services may be considered; 

➢ Ability to be a positive role model; 

➢ Ability to observe and understand behaviors and guide clients towards healthy lifestyle choices; 

➢ Ability to facilitate programming and motivate clients to participate; 

➢ Willingness to learn and work with at risk clients; 

➢ Familiar with methods of supervision of adults in an institutional setting; 

➢ Certification in Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, CPR and First Aid; 

➢ Crisis Intervention techniques; 

➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 

➢ Experience with computer software; 

➢ Case management experience; 

➢ Knowledge of the Saskatchewan First Nations Child and Family Services Group Homes and Community Care Programs Standards of Care Manual. 

➢ Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Residential Services Act, Criminal Code and the Youth Criminal Justice Act; 

➢ Must adhere to RT/ SIS Inc. Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines; 

➢ Willingness to participate in ongoing training when time and funding permits. 

➢ Must be able to pass security screening and maintain confidentiality 

➢ Must be able to work shift hours – evenings, weekends, overnight 

➢ Knowledge of First Nations values, culture, traditions, and governance.
