Reporting to the Family Wellness Unit Coordinator, the Wellness and Addictions Counsellor provides prevention, assessment, referral, counselling, and follow-up services to individuals and families affected by substance use. Operating within Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services Inc. (RT/SIS), the Counsellor delivers confidential, culturally competent support through individual, family, and group sessions while collaborating on integrated case planning
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess client needs and collaborate with team staff to develop, monitor, and evaluate case plans.
- Offer confidential, culturally competent support through individual, family, and group counselling.
- Provide appropriate referrals to treatment, prevention, and follow-up services.
- Facilitate group programming and maintain detailed documentation and data analysis.
- Collaborate with integrated program staff to ensure high standards of care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience: Four-year undergraduate degree in Social Work or an Addictions Counselling certification, with at least one year of experience in addictions services.
Certifications: Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
Regulatory & System Knowledge: Familiarity with the Saskatchewan Residential Services Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, First Nations Child & Family Services Group Homes Standards, and City of Regina community care programs.
Technical & Clinical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and internet applications, data entry/analysis, conflict resolution, assessment creation, and case management.
Cultural Competency: Solid knowledge of First Nations values, culture, traditions, and governance structures.
Requirements: Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, clear security screening, and flexible availability.
