Affiliated Education Programs

FHQ Education provides director services to the following education programs: 

Leading Thunderbird Lodge

Leading Thunderbird Lodge is male youth treatment facility accredited with the Canadian Accreditation Council.

Programming includes Pekiwewin (Coming Home) House, which provides selected graduates of the 16-week residential treatment program with an opportunity to continue and complete their secondary education, gain work experience, and enhance their life skills. Residents will continue their healing journey supported by cultural teachings and programming.

Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services (RT/SIS)

  • Treaty 4 Education Centre (T4EC) is open to students wanting to complete high school in an individualized setting. Our curriculum includes discussions, worksheets, workshops, software, and videos. Students need self-motivation, maturity, and perseverance to succeed. We integrate cultural activities such as Elder talks, sweats/ceremonies, feasts, and other events, and expect student participation. Our holistic education model nurtures students through a variety of activities that build our students emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally.
Adult 12

We offer an Adult 12 program that is open to students 19 years and older, or students at the age of 18 who have been out of the regular school system for one full year. An adult 12 consists of a minimum of seven credits (courses). Each credit will take a minimum of 100 in class hours. Regular courses include:

  • Native Studies 30
  • Science 20 or 30 (Biology, Physics, or Chemistry)
  • English Language Arts A30
  • English Language Arts B30
  • Math 20 or Math 30 (Foundations, Works, Pre-calculus)
  • Two electives
  • Psychology 30
  • Law 30
An additional math or science could be taken and counted as an elective. Applicants who have previously completed grade 12 courses will significantly improve the chances of acceptance.
Training
As a class we offer various workshops and programming that can be beneficial to students both professionally and personally. CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, Safe Food Handling and other various Life Skills Training courses. There is much to be learned, but not everything is taught in a classroom and we do our best to incorporate outside activities.
Selection & Waiting List
  • Application forms are available daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. 
  • Prospective students must submit their most recent high school transcript.
  • Priority is given to students with at least a grade 10 level.
  • If you need remedial work, there are programs in the city offering basic literacy and general upgrading. Some options include SaskPolyTech, SIIT, Ignite, Regina Public Schools, Regina Public Library, and Southeast Regional College.
  • Completing these programs successfully will give you an advantage when applying to the T4EC Adult 12 program.

 

Prospective students must submit a completed application package, including:

  • The SITAG form
  • Resume
  • Three letters of reference
  • Recent transcript
  • An initial meeting with a First Nations Employment Centre career advisor as part of the intake process
